Title: | British Upper Jurassic plesiosaurs |

Abstract: | The suborder Plesiosauria is a group of extinct marine reptiles of the order Sauropterygia which dominated the seas throughout the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. The first specimens, from the Lower Lias of Dorset, were described by Conybeare in 1821. Since that date there has been remarkably little confusion of remains of this group with its contemporaries, a fact which reflects upon the degree of morphological distinctness of the plesiosaur skeleton. |
